SOME PAST ACHIEVEMENTS

T. I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School, Kumasi, has  over the past sixty years made outstanding achievement in sports.

FOOTBALL

T. I. Amass won the National School and colleges Football Championship in 1964 played at the Accra Sports Stadium, Amass beat Fijai Secondary School in the finals to lift the trophy. In 1985 Amass won the Regional Soccer Championship. In 1995 Amass won the Ashanti Regional Milo Soccer Championship.

ATHLETICS

For almost three decades, Amass has maintained its first position in the Zonal Athletic Competition. The School has also performed creditably well in the Ashanti Regional Super Zonal Athletic Championship.


In 1982, Amass placed first in both boys and girls divisions of the Regional School and colleges Super – Zonal athletic competition held at the Kumasi Sports Stadium. 1984, Amass placed second in the Regional super Zonal athletic Competition 1988, Amass won the Regional championship in the boys Division and the girls took the second position. 1989, Amass again won the Regional trophy in the Ashanti Regional Super Zonal Athletic Competition. In 1990, Amass successfully defended the boys championship trophy in the Ashanti Regional Super Zonal Athletic Competition. The girls won the second position. 1995, Amass won the Super – Zonal athletic Championship.

CROSS COUNTRY

In 1973, Amass won the Regional Schools and Colleges Cross – Country Competition. In 1984 Amass wont he Zonal Cross Country competition held at the Akrokeri Training College. Amass won this year (2001) Ashanti Regional Girls Cross Country Competition held at Opoku Ware School.

VOLLEY BALL

In 1988, Amass Volley Ball team emerged Champions to represent the Ashanti Regional in the National Volley Ball Championship. In 1990, Amass volleyball team won the Nelson Mandela Cup in the Regional Volleyball Competition organized by the Regional sports Council. In 1997, the Amass Girls Volleyball team won the National Milo volleyball championship in a spectacular fashion. In 1998, the school’s Volleyball team placed second in the National Volleyball Championship.


The School’s Girls Volleyball team has for the past five years maintained its first position in the Regional Volleyball Championship.


TABLE TENNIS

In 1973 T. I. Amass won the Ashanti Regional Schools and Colleges Table Tennis Championship. In 1988, /Amass Girls Table Tennis team emerged the Regional Champions. 1989, Miss Florence Yeboah (then in form two) won the national under 14 table tennis contest held at the Accra Sports Stadium. 1998, Amass won the Regional Table Tennis Competition in Both boys and Girls divisions. 2000, the girls Table Tennis Team won the Regional Table Tennis competition.

OUTSTANDING ATHLETES

The school has produced a number of National athletes like Habiba Atta, Joshua Owusu, Dina Yankey, Helena Amoako, Emmanuel Tuffour (alias Koora) Mohammed Odoom of Asante Kotoko fame, Kumi Frimpong (alias Boo Nana).
